Clarifications: Defining Differences in Personality

In order to better understand the personality differences between people, some tests are available that measure different aspects of a person's psyche. These tests can be helpful in finding your career path, but there are some important distinctions to make between them.

The most common test used to measure personality is the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). This test measures four dimensions of personality: Extroverted Sensing (ES), intuition, thinking processes, and judging. People who are Extroverted Sensing (ES) tend to be action oriented and enjoy being around people.

They process information quickly and often use hunches to make decisions. Intuitive people are usually more interested in ideas than things and often rely on their gut feeling when making decisions. Thinking processes involve analyzing data and coming up with solutions, while judging refers to how someone weighs different options and makes decisions based on that analysis.

Although the MBTI is popular, it is not the only test available. Other tests measure traits such as Conscientiousness, Neuroticism, Openness to Experience, and Agreeableness.  To get more information about personality tests for career paths you may search online.
